LEGO City’s summer 2023 sets blend two subthemes into one
LEGO City’s next slate of sets combines two subthemes into one, blending the Arctic and Deep Sea Explorers subthemes into a new range.
Though they have yet to appear on LEGO.com, the next LEGO City sets have been revealed by retailers and include everything from a car wash to a giant downtown structure and even another arctic range.
It’s an especially diverse wave for the theme, but it’s even more so when you consider that the new Arctic range is a combination of the existing Arctic and Deep Sea Explorers subthemes.
While 60378 Arctic Mobile Laboratory and 60376 Arctic Snowmobile focus on above-ground exploration, 60368 Arctic Research Ship, 60377 Seaforesting Boat, 60379 Deep Sea Explorer Submarine focus on underwater research.
The colour scheme and the presence of warm clothing suggest that these models are all part of the Arctic range. It’s interesting to see how smoothly the two subthemes combine and it adds to the diversity of the LEGO City summer 2023 selection.
60368 Arctic Research Ship is similar in design and function to 60266 Ocean Exploration Ship with both even including a submerged shipwreck build. 60379 Deep Sea Explorer Submarine has similarities to 60264 Ocean Exploration Submarine and 60092 Deep Sea Submarine.
